Fetch?

Maizie decided that today she knows how to play fetch. I assure you- I have tried numerous times to teach her how to play fetch to which retorted by running off with her toy and not returning or- returning with her 30-pound self and not her toy.

But today... today, she decided she knew how to play. She dropped her squeaky toy next to my chair and looked up a me with a hopeful eye. Delighted, I threw the toy as she ran to chase it... and brought it back!

We did this a few times before she disappeared again into another room. But alas, later on she returned for a second round. Once I started with the commands, however, oh no, it was game over. Apparently, there was no way I was getting credit for teaching her how to play.
She certainly wasn't having that.

And she certainly wasn't playing by my rules.

So Maizie was back to her old Maizie self and I was back to whatever it was I was doing before. Her little mind is an enigma.

I think she likes to keep me guessing.

Introductions...

I'm not very good at introductions and neither is Maizie considering she is a 30-pound little terror terrier who wouldn't know tact if it nipped her in the... needless to say, I may or not be the better candidate but I decided I would do the introductions anyway.

There are three key players in this tale in which you will become familiar-

Diana- the writer, the one who will be documenting the adventures of our little trio, the one who said, "hey, let's get a dog!" and then said "my gosh, what have we done?" Alas... she eventually came around.

James- a very understanding and supportive husband who fixes things in a pinch (regardless of the destruction) and often finds himself holding the leash while his lovely wife disappears off and promises to be back... no longer than five minutes, really.

Maizie- the four-legged third-wheel who accompanies her owners on most trips, Maizie is a 7-year old pit bull mix who spent two months in a shelter before being adopted. Despite what her evil owners may say about her, she is a sweet dog who is an absolute angel when left home alone (hey, who wrote that?)

Back in 2003 when we adopted Maizie, I knew I was going to write a book about her. It only took five years and a lot of memories to get to this point.

I created this blog, however, mostly for myself to document
the adventures of Miss Maizie for my upcoming book. You'll find little snips from the stories as well as pictures and memories which we have stored away and trust me... it's quite a collection.

Recently, I had a discussion with my husband as I weighed the options in my head, letting doubt cloud my mind as I told him, "I just don't know if I have a story to tell." He looked at me with that charming way of his and said, "Maizie does."

And so it begins.

Lastly, I told Maizie this isn't the Golden Globes or anything but she would just like to say
thank you to whoever is out there reading. Hope you enjoy the ride.
